The Future of Publishing?

Direct from the offices of Videoegg NYC - straight from my new coworkers' blog....
Could this really be the future of publishing?
Fun-oh!

  1. Cool video of an approach to a digital edition. From a publisher's point of view, I'd be curious to know how they would monetize this kind of initiative (subscription, one time fee, ad supported, etc.)
And in a world where the effectiveness of ads is being constantly measured, how are you measuring engagement?
Are there going to be metrics of time spent, engagagement, clicks, from you iPad? Is there an opportunity for those to be 3rd party driven?
    So many questions

  2. As an online editor, this sounds all too familiar. People asked the same questions when web magazines emerged as "new media": Will this replace print?

As we've seen, no. Instead, successful publishers have used both media vehicles to complement each other rather than cannibalize each other. The digital edition is just another vehicle.

As an online editor, I'm also aware of my (read: our) consumer behavior. There is something aesthetically appealing, and today almost collectible, about print publications. It won't die anytime soon.

Very cool - thanks for sharing, Paolo.
